Imagine working towards an important milestone in life-giving your heart and soul only to end up short of victory. Imagine working towards a promotion only to be passed over by a colleague. Imagine building a friendship over a decade, only to discover the cracks. Imagine breaking into your dream career, only to face disappointing results.

The feeling is cutting and internally demotivating. We have all been in situations where we feel helpless and hopeless. Fresh start stings and the thought of going through it again feels daunting. Happiness becomes an unknown, and the body goes into a deep introspection. Time slows down, yet it passes without realization. I know I have been in countless such situations.

The natural response is usually to give up and stop pursuit. The unnatural response is the correct one.

If I analyze the period after each troubling episode of failure, I find a strong urge to overcome and grow. The urge gets stronger with an increased frequency of recovering from failure as our body adapts to tackling each episode quite effectively and behold, the ultimate result is usually the achievement of our goals. The lesson here is that resilience increases our odds of success.

Even in the Quran, the Holy Book of the Muslims, Allah clearly states: "And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good."

Now, the good can have multiple interpretations. But I believe it is a rule of nature where patience, persistence, and growth will always result in the desired outcome. You might feel like giving up and letting hopelessness take over in difficult times, but you should show character and push through - despite the pain.

Just remember that your suffering will not go in vain. You will get rewarded.

It is not a matter of if. It is a matter of when

✍️ Quote of the Week

“ … I wish upon you ample doses of pain and suffering. Greatness comes from character and character isn't formed out of smart people—it's formed out of people who suffered"
